He doesn't want to be "The Next Mark Spitz"

No, he doesn't want to be the world's next mustachioed aquatic wonder, but Michael Phelps does plan to equal or surpass Mark Spitz's record of seven gold medals in a single Olympiad.

For those not familiar with Michael Phelps, but curious enough to still be reading this post, he's the 6ft 4, 19 year old swimming phenom about to dominate international sports media and natatorial competition for the next two months. With an 8ft wingspan and the ability to contend for world records in every stroke, he is arguably the best swimmer in the world, possibly in history.

Case in point - Last December, Phelps competed in a major invitational at Loyola College, in Maryland. He took first in the following events:
100yd Fly - 46.88
200yd Free - 1:33.82
200yd IM - 1:44.57
200yd Br - 1:57.66
50yd Free - 20.15
500yd Free - 4:18.69
1650yd Free - 15:16.32

Oh, and he also competed in the 400 and 800yd freestyle relays, AS A ONE-MAN TEAM, and won!
